The Brass
Band was formed in the spring of
2001 and their first appearance was in June of that year at Little Buffalo
State Park. The group is currently comprised of both career and
non-career musicians who perform with the Greenwood Community Band and
reside in the Central PA area.
The
group was organized to provide an outlet for the Band's brass players to
perform music arranged specifically for brass band, which includes,
marches, hymn tunes, classical, Dixieland, blues, patriotic, novelty and
seasonal music. The ensemble is conducted by Lois Swartz Yingling
(pictured left) who is a native of Millerstown and now resides in
Freeburg. She has been a music educator for the past 35 years.
